What's that? You say you all want free art advice from the least artistic guy in the office? Well gather round...

I am not an artist.

Actually, it’s worse than that.

I’m not even slightly artistic.

Don’t believe me? Just ask my mom. She’s the one that did EVERY art project I was assigned between the 6th and 12th grade. (Thanks mom!)

No big deal. I can write. That’s all I’ll need to succeed in the business of communicating, right?

Wrong.

Despite our ability to read and write, the human brain is definitely hardwired for visual content. The brain processes images 60,000 times faster than it does text and a whopping 90 percent of all information that comes to the brain is visual. In the face of such powerful statistics, it’s clear my beautiful prose isn’t enough to thrive in this line of work.

So how are the artistically challenged among us supposed to get by?

The answer: Canva

Canva is like the online version of my mom. If I need to produce an attractive, original graphic, Canva really does do most of the work for me.

Canva is an easy-to-use, web-based graphic design tool that everyone should embrace. Seriously, it couldn’t be easier. And guess what? It’s free!

Need a new Facebook cover photo? Maybe a snappy Instagram post or new banner for your website? Don’t worry about dimensions because Canva has templates for just about anything you could ever want to design. And once you’ve settled on what you want to create the rest is just as easy. Canva has large library of free graphics and fonts.  Canva also allows you to upload your own photos and integrate them into your design, which makes it very easy to develop and promote your own personal brand or the brand of a client.

Now if I can just teach my mom how to do it for me, I’ll really be on easy street
